El proyecto OpenGeoMap declara abiertamente que ya es la hora de ser libres para ingenieros de caminos, industriales, etc. y no solo los informáticos.

La gente de OpenGeoMap , la web está en inglés, pero son de habla española, y nos han presentado su proyecto con estas palabras: Hemos hecho el "kit de supervivencia del ingeniero libre" para que todos usemos librerías matemáticas para hacer todo tipo de software. Hablo también de la problemática del CAD libre.

En mi caso particular yo estoy defendiendo la realización relacionado con la geodesia, topografía y GIS. Tenemos casi todo el código básico necesario proporcionado por muchas universidades y la NASA.

Programa de cálculos

Programa de manejo de sistemas de coordenadas, cálculos de observaciones GPS y cálculos de topografía clásica.

Este programa tiene como finalidad realizar cálculos de coordenadas, transformándolas de un sistema a otro, realizando conversiones, además de manejo de ficheros de puntos, de observación de topografía clásica y de observaciones GPS (RINEX).

Programa de dibujo topográfico

Programa que este sobre un CAD potente y que permita importar puntos, hacer triangulaciones con esos puntos. Mediante esas triangulaciones se pueden hacer curvas de nivel, extraer perfiles del terreno, cubicaciones,...

Normalmente se usan Programas completos que son CAD, pero muchos otros son módulos para Autocad o Microstation.

Estación de fotogrametría digital

Programa que permite obtener coordenadas, curvas de nivel observando un par de fotos aéreas vertical, mediante visión estereoscópica. Esto quizás son los proyectos visualmente mas atractivos.

Programa de GIS

Este programa maneja bases de datos (datos descriptivos) y las relaciona con mapas. En este campo es el único que tiene programa de código abierto. Se llama Grass y es muy antiguo, de los años 80, pero es muy profesional.

Soy el webmaster de opengeomap. Jeje gracias, por el post, sólo una cosa no es un web para todo tipo de ingenieros... Lo que si es cierto que el kit de supervivencia del ingeniero libre está pensado para que todos los ingenieros hagamos software libre. Luego el web opengeomap.org es sólo pensado para topografia, astronomia, caminos, fotogrametria,... Nosotros no sabemos nada de ingenieria industrial, pero si es cierto que todos los ingenierios de todas las ramas necesitamos meternos en el mundo libre. LIBEREMOS EL MUNDO DE TALIBANES YA!!!!!

Por email te dige que no entiendo que tienen que ver los talibanes aquí, por lo visto no es solo tu forma de terminar emails XDD.

Permíteme un comentario sin malicia:
Ten cuidado, se puede malinterpretar como que no te gusta la gente que no ve el software libre como tú por ser un poco más rigurosa. Por ejemplo la FSF, a la que más de uno tacha estúpidamente de radical o incluso de talibanes.

Lo de Talibanes es un comodín que vuelve la muy detallada vida en blancos y negros con turbantes-diana. Gente profundamente equivocada i fiel a su equivocación la habrá siempre.

A nosotros los que nos preocupan, contra los que tu y yo hacemos piña, son los que intentan pasar formatos propietarios (y los que se lo permiten) como por ejemplo openXML o JPEG XR, a base de engañar en todo, incluso el nombre, como si fuesen realmente estándares libres para afianzar monopolios. Los que engañan y corrompen diciendo que es libre y por dentro que debe implementar cosas no libres.

En suma, los que saben que hacen mucho daño pero no se paran porque tienen mucho interés y les ciega en cualquier otra cosa que no sea en buscar razones o estrategias para manipular e imponerse más y más. La industria de la publicidad de hoy en día sabe buscar la eficacia para ponerla a sus manos.

Y ojo, sus principales argumentos suelen ser maniqueismos como lo de radical-talibán. Simplificar, confundir, provocar dudas y sobretodo miedos.

De todas formas, parafraseando al poeta:

Y en el mundo habrá siempre una lengua viva,
que diga,
que lo libre no se rinde.
